As we enter the month of July, Jakarta will see array of events happening all over the town. Which event you can't miss this July? We've got you covered.

Blowfish Jakarta is inviting American hip-hop artist Silento for a fun-filled party on July 28th!

Don’t forget to drop by to Indonesia International Pet Expo at Indonesia Convention Exhibition at BSD City on July 28th. Highlights of the three-day pet expo cover everything from a Fun Dog Show to an International Cat Show, Rabbit Show and Free Flight Parrots.

Dia.Lo.Gue is teaming up with Kemang Creative Fair to host ‘Flow Into Now’, a group art exhibition that will start from July 25 to August 14th. Curated by Rizki A. Zaelani, the exhibition will feature numerous artists, architects and designers to appreciate the experience of the present and also the now-ness of life.

Hause Rooftop is hosting a basic photography and social media event collaborating with @jktshootandgram on July 29th. Time: 10am-12pm.

On July 30th, Ciputra Artpreneur is hosting ‘Indonesia Dalam 3’, an inspiring theatrical poetry by 3 prolific Indonesian poets: Radhar Panca Dahana, Gus Mus and D. Zawawi Imron. Time: 7pm.

Nightlife Updates: Lucy In The Sky is holding ‘Spring Break Fest’ on July 28th while The Safehouse Jakarta is hosting another ‘Time After Time’ party on July 29th.

July III 

Oku Restaurant at Hotel Indonesia Kempinski is hosting The Chef’s Table: an interactive Japanese dining experience where the restaurant’s Chef Kazumasa Yazawa will be sharing his tips and tricks for five-course menu for 24 lucky people. The Chef’s Table will be held on July 20th and priced at 1,000,000++/person including paired wine.

Meanwhile, Ruci Artspace is still holding ‘I too am untranslatable’ art exhibition starting from July 15th to August 13th and will feature four artists from Jakarta, Bandung and Yogyakarta: Deden Hendan Durahman, Jabbar Muhammad, Kelvin Atmadibrata and Theresia Agustina Sitompul. The event will be curated by Roy Voragen.

Don’t miss out on Gudang Sarinah and Grafis Huru Hara’s annual visual art exhibition entitled ‘Sorrygraph’ from July 13 to 21 at Hall A1. The exhibition will feature the printmaking in post card formats which later will be delivered to the participants’ address in aim to introduce one creator with the other. Time: 11am – 9pm.

Institut Français Indonesia is hosting a movie screening: Fievers (July 21st), Papa lumière (July 20th) and an old classic Les Quatre Cents Coups or better known as The 400 Blows will be screen on July 22th. All screening will take place at Institut Français Indonesia, Thamrin.

Salihara Book Club is hosting a Latin America book series on July 22 with selected books, poems and essays (Octavio Paz), Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands; Gabriela, Clove and Cinnamon (Jorge Amado).

Belvedere Vodka returns once again this week with Belvedere Martini Week 2017, which will starts from July 24 until 30 and held at Oliver, Union, Monty’s, Publik Markette, De Luca and Rock Paper Scissor.

June II

This week on July 12th will see the spectacular "Stars of the West End" at Ciputra Artpreneur. Scroll below for more information, or click here to read the scoop.

On July 13th Institut Français Indonesia will hold the fantastic gigantic puppet theatre ‘Les Grandes Personnes’ at Kawasan Kota Tua, Jakarta. Time: 5pm.

Shangri-La Jakarta’s Rosso restaurant is hosting an exclusive wine dinner in collaboration with Chilean wine, Concha Y Toro, on July 14th. The dinner will highlight authentic Italian cuisine which will be paired with great wines, so don’t miss out! Time: 6pm.

Movie Screening:  Hause Rooftop is screening Star Wars Episode III on July 17 and Kinosaurus Jakarta is screening Donkey Skin on July 14.

Galeri Nasional is still staging ‘Quiet Riot On Stage’ until July 17th that present 15 artworks, from drawings to photo installation, from numerous Indonesian artists, such as Lambok Hutabarat, Aris Darisman and Bonifasius Djoko Santoso, among others.

Nightlife Update: Bauhaus is hosting the second anniversary of Blvckgold on July 15th with lead performance by T-Five’s lead Paul Latumahina; Pao Pao is inviting Sliqq and Nyemme on July 14th; The Pallas is hosting ‘All of The Lights’ on July 14th and will feature a series of talents including Dmust Akira, Marcell, Dipha Barus x Kalula, and Tiara Eve x Liquid Silva.

On July 9th, The Salihara Art Community is presenting a book club dialogue entitled “Indonesian Poetry after Chairil Anwar – Let’s Talk about Indonesian Literature in English”. Chairil Anwar is considered the brightest star in the establishment of modern Indonesian poetry. Venue: Salihara Lobby; admission: free; opens: 4pm.

On July 12th, Ciputra Artpreneur is proudly presenting “Stars of the West End”, a two-evening concert featuring four Broadway stars from the West End of London: Shona Lindsay, Tom Solomon, Mike Sterling, and Jayne O’Mahony. Venue: Ciputra Artpreneur Theater; showtime: 8pm; tickets: Rp600,000–Rp1,500,000.

Size doesn’t matter in Bali when all kind of kites reach new heights on the windy Padang Galak Beach in Sanur in the three-day Bali Kite Festival starting from July 13th. Now into its 34th year, this global happening attracts more than 1,200 kites in competition watched by some 10,000 spectators.

On July 14th, The seven-day Bali International choir symposium and competition is being organised by the Bandung Choral Society. Venue: Sanur Beach Paradise Plaza Hotel, Bali.

One of the country’s most progressive radical artists, Budi Ubrux, will stage “Indonesia” a 15-day contemporary painting exhibition at Hall B of the Galeri Nasional in Jakarta starting from July 28th. The billboard-artist-cum-painter is based in Switzerland and was born in 1968. Free admission every day from 9am–4pm except Mondays.

Also on July 28th, Indonesia Convention Exhibition at BSD City will stage the Indonesia International Pet Expo at Hall 3 & 3A of the convention centre. Highlights of the three-day pet expo covers everything from a Fun Dog Show to an International Cat Show, Rabbit Show and Free Flight Parrots.

The Salihara Community Book Club programme will discuss Julia Alvarez, Isabel Allende, and the “Dictator’s Regime” on July 29. Alvarez’s novel In the Time of the Butterflies talks about Dominican leader Rafael Trujillo, while Allende’s The House of the Spirits exposes the cruel military regimes of Latin America. Venue: Salihara Lobby; opens 4pm; admission: free.

On July 29th, VIXX, the South Korean boy band, will meet fans at the “VIXX Fan Meeting Tour in Southeast Asia”. Leo, Ken, Ravi, N, Hongbin and Hyuk have gained popularity for their music, lyrics and choreography. Venue: The Kasablanka Hall; tickets: Rp920,000–Rp2,500,000; showtime: 6pm.
