Sometime the hardest part of planning a holiday is finding someone to go with or having to compromise due to other travelling companions’ needs and wants—so why not just do it alone? To help, we have put together a list of tips to inspire any solo traveller to take a sojourn they will never forget!

 Tour Companies

If the main reason you’re having trouble picking your solo vacation is due too many ideas and not enough decisions, then why not let someone else do the work? Tour companies come in many shapes and sizes with some taking over completely and some being more flexible. We recommend choosing one that allows for personal breaks away from the formal tour.

We already mentioned in our hottest trends article that cruises will be a major trend in 2017. So why not jump on and explore on-board? With multiple options and guarantied company, there is literally something for every solo traveller to find on cruise.

 European Treks

Due to easy access by train, plane or automobile, Europe is a perfect place to visit. Guides can be found in most areas and these are also a great way to meet like-minded people. If you venture out on your own, only do so if you have experience of trekking or knowledge of the area.

In addition, some treks will need specific equipment—but don’t be put off as going off the beaten track can reveal myriad natural wonders.

 Silent Retreats

Many solo tourists venture out alone because they don’t want to be bothered by constant conversation. If this sounds like you, then you should try a “silent retreat”. Used by many city-dwellers looking for a break from the unforgiving metropolises, these silent getaways are perfect for self-reflection and recharging your batteries; let’s call them spas for the soul.

 Yoga Retreat

When relaxing your mind on a solo venture, why not do the same for your body? If you enjoy a rejuvenating yoga session you’d be hard-pressed to find a more relaxing setting than the sandy beaches and tranquil waves in Hawaii.

 The Orient Express

A solo deluxe train journey is perfect for those looking for a way to experience both social and personal holiday perks. With a private cabin, you can have much-needed alone time whenever you desire and all in the lap of luxury.

And when you wish to meet interesting people just venture to a more social cabin. In the end, what better train journey than the most famous of them all: the Orient Express?

 Unique hotels

While resorts are nothing new when one is looking for luxury-meets-everything on your holiday doorstep, why not try a hotel aimed at the solo traveller? A good example of this are Japanese capsule hotels with just about enough room for one.

Anywhere you don’t speak the language!

Being able to communicate is often the first thing people look for in travelling. However, challenging yourself out of your comfort zone really pushes you to try new things and often it will encourage you learn new things and meet new people. We recommend you visit a new place where you don’t speak a word of the language.
