The Dian Ballroom of the Raffles Jakarta hotel drew a slew of VIP guests and celebrities on November 2 as the long-awaited Indonesia Tatler Ball 2018 unfolded. Right from the very moment our society friends arrived, they were ushered to the flashy Wall of Fame, immersive entertainment experiences, right until the clock struck 2am—this year’s Indonesia Tatler Ball is right to have been praised as one event worth cherishing for the rest of the year and onwards. To relive the magical moments, here are 12 splendid highlights you may have missed.
Wall of fame
It wouldn’t be right for a soiree as exclusive as the Indonesia Tatler Ball to not have a grand “Wall of Fame” red carpet on which only the most prominent socialites posed and flaunted their magnificent dresses and suits. This year, socialites and celebrities such as Patty Kaunang, HE Sander Gurbuz, Cinta Laura Kihel, Luna Maya, as well as Georgian royals Princess Kristine De Bagration Mukhrani and Prince Juan De Bagration Mukhrani were seen on the red carpet as cameras devoured every brilliant moment.
Hublot’s Infinite photo booth
Our exclusive guests were also able to capture the moment with the groundbreaking photo booth presented by luxury timepiece brand Hublot. Once inside, the pictures would be taken by surrounding mirrors to produce a brilliant infinite effect that covered them all round.
While our guests mingled and introduced themselves to each other, they enjoyed the delights of delicious tipples thanks to The Macallan and Stark Beer while the Raffles Jakarta staff served tasty canapes.
Along with the luscious ambience, guests could also feast their eyes on the divine jewellery collection showcased by PASSION Privé. Some of these were parts of the Royal Collection: a collaboration between PASSION Privé and Princess Kristine De Bagration Mukhrani of Georgia.
For easy conversation, sponsor Quintessentially provided a lovely lounge for guests to recline in, chat, and learn more about its concierge services. This London-based company offers premium lifestyle services for those who live in an ever-demanding life of wealth.
One of the most significant attractions at the Indonesia Tatler Ball 2018 was—you guessed it—the extraordinarily fine-dining dishes. Served only by and for the best, the evening’s feast included Balinese Tuna Ceviche, Sup Asam Palembang, Pan Fried Foie Gras, and Starfruit; followed by Coriander and Sweet Soya-glazed Barramundi Fillet; Braised Short Ribs Maranggi-style, Tumis Bunga Papaya Nasi Kuning; and, lastly for dessert, Bali Tabanan Banana Chocolate Soup Brioche Toast, and Luwak Coffee Foam, all paired with the divine Wolfblass President’s Selection Gold Label Macallan 1240.
Gamelan and traditional dances
In conjunction with our theme of “Indonesia Tanah Airku”, guests were welcomed with the beautiful tunes of traditional gamelan instrumentation performed by The Golden Theme followed by glorious traditional dances to accompany our guests’ appetisers.
Mrs Millie Stephanie Lukito, CEO and Bureau Chief of Indonesia Tatler and its parent company Mobiliari Group, gave a warm opening speech as commented on the 18th anniversary of the renowned magazine. “Indonesia Tatler is proud to host the biggest society gathering of the year, the Indonesia Tatler Ball 2018, where we celebrate our 18th anniversary, together with the diverse culture and exceptional cuisine of Indonesia.”
Not only did our Tatler friends have the times of their lives, they were also asked to participate in a charity live auction arranged by Phillips Auction and the Maria Lukito Foundation to help those in need after the disaster in Palu and Donggala, and to improve the educational fortunes of underprivileged students. The auction succeeded in raising millions of rupiah.
Paying homage to our beloved country with the “Indonesia Tanah Airku” theme, guests were challenged to dress their best to win exciting prizes. And so, the evening’s Best Dressed Awards were handed out to the fabulous Melinda Tedja, Rudy Akili, Patty Kaunang, May Farida, and Susi Sariaatmaja, each of them looking dapper and stunning while embodying the Indonesian theme.
The evening was elevated with a beautiful performance by the Soulful Band. However, they weren’t the only ones who took to the stage and amazed everybody. As the night unravelled, our society friends got on stage and sang their hearts out, as others followed and slow danced to their lovely voices.
